linemakerdesign was founded by David Swain, who has over forty years of experience in the fields of Design and Construction. David commenced his career in the industry as a carpenter joiner before moving on to Architectural studies at UNSW. David developed his own design practice and worked on projects ranging from multi-million dollar hotel developments through commercial office fitouts; hospitality venues; and retail centres located throughout Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore. The last 17 years has seen David specializing in retail outlet design with a strong emphasis on Food Outlets located across Australia and New Zealand. David has held senior corporate roles such as National Design Manager with Dymocks where he successfully developed bookstores & cafes across Australia. In 2003 he joined Yum! Restaurants Australia as Design & Construction Manager for KFC; Taco Bell; Long John Silvers; A&W All American Food; and Pizza Hut. During his term at Yum! David successfully led the introduction to the SOPAC market of the A&W All American Food brand as well as the Long John Silver’s brand. With KFC he developed new outlets in Tasmania and oversaw the upgrade of many others. For the Pizza Hut brand he led the development of the 2007 “Vision” Brand Image, and eventually replaced that with the 2015 “Global” Brand Image. As testament to David’s capability, in one year alone he upgraded 67 outlets in Qld, 15 in NSW and constructed 8 new outlets in multiple Australian states. David also developed a transparent tendering system which helped reduce the cost of a typical Pizza Hut fitout by a full 40%. |
